Ana Mak was born in Porto and grew up drawing everything she couldn't say.

She studied Communication Design at ESAD, but it was while specialising in Illustration at the Faculty of Fine Arts in this city that she found a language without borders — a way of thinking with her hand and breathing through lines.

The medium never stops her: walls, books, skulls, fabric, paper. Each surface is just another place where she can write what she sees and feels.

She seeks simplicity that contains a world, the detail that changes the whole story. She is interested in observing the smallest gestures of everyday life, the landscapes that surround her, the memories that stick to objects, and transforming them into images that speak in silence. She draws to decode the world — and so that each person, when looking at it, can decode it in their own way.
