Emílio Remelhe was born in Barcelos in 1965. He is a professor at ESAD – Escola Superior de Arte e Design de Matosinhos (Matosinhos School of Art and Design) and at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. He teaches Illustration, Drawing and Creative Writing. He holds a PhD in Art Education, with a thesis in the field of museum education, and a Master's degree in Drawing Practice and Theory. He is a researcher at ESAD-IDEA and I2ADS – FBAUP. He is a founding member of ELOS – Galician-Portuguese Association for Research in Children's and Youth Literature. With a degree in Painting, his work includes fine arts, set design, drawing, illustration and literature, using various pseudonyms, including Eugénio Roda. He conducts workshops and training courses for students and teachers in the field of creativity, drawing and illustration.

He has been exhibiting since the 1980s. He has been publishing illustrations since the 1990s. In addition to private collections, his work is represented in the public collections of the CTT Collectors' Club, World Trade Centre – Macau, Portuguese Institute of the Orient, ANACOM-Telecommunications Authority, S. João da Madeira Art Centre, Museum of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum, and Serpente Gallery. His illustrations have been published by publishers such as Livros do Oriente, Gémeo R, Campo das Letras, Ver Pra Ler, Deriva, Civilização, Caminho and Eterogémeas, and in periodicals such as Revista Macau, Diário de Notícias, Chão de Brinco, Macau Daily News and Revista Plages.
