Marta Madureira was born in Porto in 1977. She graduated in Communication Design from the Porto School of Fine Arts. She completed a master's degree in Image Design at FBAUP, where she is currently pursuing a PhD. She is a designer and illustrator. She is a lecturer at IPCA - Instituto Politécnico do Cávado e do Ave, teaching on the Graphic Design degree course and the Illustration and Animation master's course. She has illustrated texts by Álvaro Magalhães, Vergílio Alberto Vieira, Manuel António Pina, Adélia Carvalho, Ana Luísa Amaral, among others. Her first book was published by Eterogémas, where she is also part of collections of illustrators such as Pés de Galinha (text by Ana Paula Guimarães), Duas Mil e Oito Voltas no Carrossel (text by Eugénio Roda) and Invasão da Casa Andresen (collective of illustrators and writers). He participated in the Children's and Youth Book Illustrators Exhibitions organised by Luís Mendonça for the Porto Book Fairs in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

He has received awards such as the Athens Biennial Young Creators Award in 2003, the Naples Biennial Young Creators Award in 2005, Special Mention in the National Illustration Award in 2010; Special Mention in the National Illustration Award in 2011, and 1st prize in the 3×3 Magazine of Contemporary Illustration in 2012, among others. She wrote and directed the animated series As Máquinas de Maria, funded by the Instituto do Cinema e do Audiovisual and presented on RTP's Onda Curta programme. In partnership with Adélia Carvalho, he founded Editora Tcharan in 2009.
